David Clarke has been one of New England's leading woodcarvers specializing in hand-carved, sand  finished, and gilded signs for over 30 years.  He began his business out of necessity to fund his personal artwork.  In his own studio, David creates carvings on a daily basis to customer specifications and delivers them throughout the area. Come and join him in the studio. Work with him side by side and benefit from decades of practical experience during your class or workshop. Choose from Wood Carving and Drawing classes or participate in a Drawing, Gilding, or One-On-One workshop.

Learning  with David Clarke begins with the application. Prospective students are asked to submit photos with examples of their current art or woodcarving.  Please furnish a short description of why you want to take the course, what you hope to achieve, and what may be your plans for the future. This information will allow us both to focus on specific requirements.

Throughout the course, David will combine demonstrations with lecture, technique and visuals on select past artists and craftsmen, so a notebook is recommended.  Both the novice and experienced  will benefit from streamlined methods and a more relaxed atmosphere than similar classes provide. Throughout the courses, David  instructs and encourages you on the importance of developing your own style and experimenting with techniques. It is his goal that you will complete your class with the confidence to explore the world of art on your own.
